DRACUT – Dracut Rotary Club gave a warm welcome this week to the 2012 RYLA attendees and alternates. The students, along with Guidance Counselor Geoff Kromer, were the guests of the Club at its weekly luncheon meeting. RYLA Committee Chair LouAnn Jendro introduced the 4 attendees and 2 alternates, all sophomores at Dracut High School . The students offered a few remarks regarding their school activities and interests, and what they hoped to learn at this year’s RYLA weekend. They viewed their selection as an opportunity to hone their communication and team building skills. The students agreed that they were hoping to come away with leadership ideas that they could share with their fellow student leaders at DHS.
This year’s attendees are Karina Shepard, Patrick Dufour, Peter Cutrumbes and Morgan Languirand. The 2012 alternates are Holly Niedzwiecki and Gabriella Zabbo.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program is sponsored by Rotary’s District 7910. The 2012 weekend-long leadership training event will be held June 22 through 24 at Worcester State University. Clubs throughout the District select students to attend, as well as alternates who would be called upon to fill a vacancy for any student from any club in the District who is unable to attend.
