DRACUT – Dracut Rotary joined civic, veteran and youth groups in honoring our fallen heroes and all who served our country in past generations at the annual Dracut Memorial Day Parade. Marching with Club members were members’ children and grandchildren who helped distribute more than 5000 strings of red, blue, silver and gold beads to spectators along the parade route.
The Memorial Day Parade is an annual event for the Club. According to Club President Chris Mullen, it’s a visible expression of DRC’s local involvement and community service. The community showed its appreciation for all that Dracut Rotary does for others with hearty rounds of applause all along the route. Member Al Daigle Jr. noted that many spectators called out messages of “thanks for all you do” to the passing Club members. Rotarian Farook Taufiq said that one spectator even call out “service above self” as the Rotarians passed, causing Club members to note that the message of Rotary is being heard.
