Farook Taufiq Installed as Club President for 2022-23

The Club installed Farook Taufiq as president for the 2022-23 year on July19th during the Tuesday meeting at Lenzi’s. Diane Clark, who successfully served as president for two years as the club navigated through Covid, presented Farook the Club charter and gavel as he assumed the presidency to lead the Club forward in the coming year.

Farook is not new to the position however. He held the office of president for Dracut Rotary in 1980-81. “I am retired from business and had some time to think about what I wanted to do with my time,” said Farook. “I thought it is time I gave back for all the pleasures I enjoyed being a member of the Dracut Rotary Club. The only problem was that I hybernate in winter. Generally, I visit my daughter in Los Angeles and spend the winters there” he added. “I cannot be a “full time” president for the entire year.  After discussing my dilemma with Chuck, I decided to partner with Jessica Silva, who volunteered to fill in when I am not in Massachusetts.”

Farook was born in Bombay, India. After completing study at St. Xavier’s College in India, he furthered his studies in London, England. In 1966, Farook began his post graduate study in chemical engineering. In 1966 he joined Prince Macaroni in Lowell. In 1978 he was invited to join Dracut Rotary Club.

During his first board meeting, President Farook outlined some of the projects he would like to move forward on during the coming year. As the Club recovers from Covid, he is hoping to make the needs of our community his first priority.
