DRC’s Gingerbread Competition Rings In Holiday Spirit

   Again this year, Dracut Rotary Club kicked off the holiday season with its annual Gingerbread Competition. The community event drew a large crowd to Harmony Hall. Hundreds of local residents who were on hand to vote for their favorite gingerbread creations. With 30 entries to choose from, it was not easy to make their choices, but 12 contestants were named winners.    The Children’s category 3rd place winner was the Russell family; 2nd place went to Dimitri , Alyson and Kate Asikis. First place was awarded to the Salvo family.

In the Young Adults category, 3rd place went to Emma Patch; 2nd place was awarded to Madison Keating, Ashleigh Cox, Nikki Anderson, Anya Sing and Allison Martin. The 1st place winners were Elly McKenna and Lauren Masse.

In the Adult category, the 3rd place winner was Tina Keily; 2nd place went to Chris Poublon and Gabby Davis. Joann Smith was the 1st place winner in the Adult category.

   This year, Club members also tied on their aprons and baked up some worthy creations, strictly for “bragging rights.” This year’s winners were, Chris Mullen in 3rd place, Rachel and Frank Antifonario in 2nd place and LouAnn Jendro took 1st place.

   “Every year we look forward to showcasing the gingerbread creations as part of the town’s holiday celebration,” said chair Sue Neary. The event coincides with the town’s Tree Lighting Ceremony held at the adjacent school complex. Santa is on hand to greet children and check on their wish lists. “This year did not disappoint,” Neary added.
